CPC and Partners Push for State Legislation to Raise Pay for Home Care Workers

On March 22nd, CPC joined the "Dance & Rally" event outside City Hall to advocate for the Fair Pay for Home Care Act, which would increase pay for home care workers to 150% of the regional minimum wage. The rally was joined by the NY Caring Majority, Comptroller Brad Lander,  Council Members Carmen de la Rosa and Crystal Hudson, home care workers, older adults, and people with disabilities. CPC Open Door Senior Center's older adults, whose average age is 82, also danced at the rally to show their support.

CPC Offers First Aid and CPR Training for Family Care Providers in Korean

On March 4th, CPC's Early Childhood Learning & Wellness Services organized an adult and pediatric first aid and CPR training session for 11 family care providers in Korean. The training was led by Junghee Park, a Korean Child Care Coordinator of CPC and an authorized instructor of the American Red Cross. Junghee provided the attendees with valuable skills and tips to effectively manage emergencies.

CPC Advocates for More Funding in Youth Services and Adult Literacy

On March 22nd, CPC Education and Career Services team joined advocates, providers, and Council Members Althea Stevens and Alexa Aviles, to call for increased funding for education and literacy services. CPC Adult Literacy Director Jeff Lau also testified before the City Council Youth Services hearing and highlighted the challenges faced by many immigrants in accessing English language learning opportunities.

Childhood Development Services Brings the Community Together Through Family Day Events 

On March 5th, 19th, 26th, and April 2nd,  CPC Childhood Development Services organized a series of Family Day events at the Essex Street Market. These events brought families and community members together for a day of entertainment, including art and crafts, raffles, and informational sessions from partners such as EmblemHealth and the New York Public Library.

The Consortium consists of 10 nonprofit home care agencies, including CPC Home Attendant Program Inc, that have been advocating for home care workers to earn 150% of the regional minimum wage.

Wayne Ho Appointed to the Not-For-Profit Contracting Advisory Committee

Wayne Ho, CPC President and CEO, has been appointed as a member of the Not-For-Profit Contracting Advisory Committee by Governor Kathy Hochul. This committee convenes on a regular basis to provide advice on the implementation and management of the not-for-profit fund, evaluate the use of standard contract language, and recommend legislation to improve contracting procedures.
