Message from the President’s Desk
On the road to Graph Expo
September is always a busy time for us here at Avanti. As summer winds down and the kids head back to school, for us it’s the start of a brand new year (our fiscal year end is August 31st). Our Year over Year revenue is up approximately 14%. I want to take this opportunity to thank our dedicated staff, our partners, and, most importantly you, our customers for contributing to our success. Regardless of whether you have been with us from the very beginning, or whether you are new to the Avanti family, I want to thank you for participating in our growth. Hopefully Avanti has helped you succeed and grow your own businesses.
Our Avanti Classic users have been busy upgrading to version 14, which has enough enhancements to fill at least 3 newsletters! If you missed our new features webinar in July, hosted by Jerry McNeely and Stephen McWilliam, you can access an archive here. If you haven’t upgraded yet, please contact your sales rep or Jared Conway.
From September 13th to 16th, we will once again be exhibiting at Graph Expo 15, in Chicago’s McCormick Place, where we’ll be unveiling the latest version of our award-winning Avanti Slingshot. Speaking of awards, we are thrilled to have won two more Must See’ems. If you haven’t heard the news, we won this year for Avanti Slingshot Automated Press Sheet Optimizer, our newest set of gang run tools, and Avanti Slingshot Grand Format Estimating Module. Please visit us in Booth 654 to see Avanti Slingshot’s latest enhancements live in action. If you can’t join us at Graph Expo, we’ll be hosting a
“sneak peek” live webinar on Thursday, August 10th featuring these award-winning modules.
But Graph Expo is just the beginning. As I mentioned in the last NewsFlash, the Avanti User Group Conference
will be taking place Tuesday, October 6th through Friday, October 9th in Niagara Falls, Ontario at the Marriott Niagara Falls Hotel Fallsview and Spa. We’ve brought back our popular “Ask the Experts” room, we’re running concurrent sessions for Avanti Classic AND Avanti Slingshot customers, and we’ll be hosting a wonderful evening in Niagara’s wine country. We have arranged for buses to pick us up and transport us to the Ravine Vineyard, where we will have a wine tour, enjoy a farm-fresh 3-course meal with a wine pairing from the Vineyards reserves, and then end our evening by the bonfire.

So what’s on the horizon for Avanti FY2016? We will be continuing our European expansion to include the UK, France and Germany. And yes, we’ll be at Drupa (more details to come!) Our development and product management teams are busy working away on even more enhancements to Avanti Slingshot. Our Avanti Classic team continues to polish and refine our flagship product. Our implementation team is on the road, assisting new customers to go live as smoothly and as successfully as possible. And our stellar support team is standing by to help you get the most out of your Avanti software, so that YOU can continue to offer your customers outstanding products and services.

NEWS: Newest Avanti Slingshot modules garner two MUST SEE 'EM awards
Company announces general availability for two newest features
TORONTO, August 17, 2015 – Avanti Computer Systems Limited, a leading provider of Print MIS solutions, today announced that the two newest Avanti Slingshot modules have received the prestigious MUST SEE ‘EM awards in connection with Graph Expo 15, the industry’s largest North American trade show. Employee Spotlight: Francis Pelland – Minion at Heart
Francis Pelland, Technical Operations at Avanti, was born in Oshawa, Ontario, where he grew up with his two brothers. A true entrepreneur, Francis started his first company at the age of 16, funded by the Ontario Government. He pursued his passion for technology and graduated from Carleton University in 2010, with a BA in Law and Computer Science. While in University, he continued to work on his own and developed 3 apps which ranked in the top 25 largest apps on Facebook at the time, with over 10 million users combined. The apps got funded by fbFund, which is operated by Facebook, Founders Fund and Accel Partners.
“What I’ve learned by experience, over the years of building out my own products and working with small agile teams, is that there are no shortages of challenges. A huge factor in what keeps me going is seeing customer satisfaction while solving some of these challenges”.
