The CommsConsult team with the Global Development Network 2010 Awards and Medals finalists in Bogota, Colombia earlier this year.
Communication is the prime facilitator of change. In a world where we’re asking big questions about how we got here (the global recession; the Horn of Africa famine; the tipping point in the Arab Spring) and not hearing adequate answers, we need to hone both listening and communication skills to make any kind of progress.
CommsConsult has been privileged enough to work with some massively smart people and organisations recently to help ask – and answer – some crucial questions. Such as: How to engage with sceptical audiences? How to communicate research more effectively to policymakers? How can we convince the media in Europe to care (and write) about global trade and
MDGs?
This year, we’ve worked with a wider diversity of clients than ever before, and we’re delighted to be part of these learning journeys. We love the power of communications to make a difference in so many ways. Communication raises warning flags. When people get information, they gain knowledge. With knowledge, they are spurred to action and empowered to hold leaders to account.
This newsletter has been sent to you because we have worked with you in the past and thought you might be interested in what we have been up to. In many cases, your business cards have been languishing for years in the drawers of the CommsConsult Directors, Megan Lloyd-Laney and Farai Samhungu. Energised, inspired and coerced by our colleagues to do something about getting back in touch, we are delighted to make contact with you all again. If you are not similarly delighted to hear from us, please do unsubscribe from future e-newsletters at the bottom of this one. We understand absolutely that sometimes, there is simply too much information coming at us in all directions: we do not want to be part of that unwelcome noise.
