A House For Essex- Ballot now live

Standing on a sloping green hill with beautiful views of the Stour estuary, A House for Essex is Grayson Perry's homage to the landscape and history of his home county.

''The idea behind the project relates to buildings put up as memorials to loved ones, to follies, to eccentric home-built structures, to shrines, lighthouses and fairytales" Perry said.

Enter the ballot for a chance to spend a few days in this modern shrine to Julie Cope. Take a leisurely walk down to the local Wrabness Beach, or spend an afternoon in nearby Manningtree and visit the imposing Mistley Towers- designed by Robert Adam- overlooking the Stour.

A House for Essex can easily be reached by train, just over an hour from London.
