The tragic wildfires in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii has dominated our headlines — depicting the utter devastation of property and exacting a heavy toll of human lives. The probability of many, many more deaths to be confirmed in coming days is heartbreaking.
Join with Hope Force International to empower local responders uniquely positioned and equipped to bring compassionate care to those in need. We have been in contact with our partner, YWAM Ships — an organization headquartered in Kona, Hawaii with many contacts on Maui. They have asked Hope Force to partner in helping them to provide desperately needed relief goods —and to consider joining them in the recovery and rebuilding initiatives that must be developed. To date, they’ve been ferrying supplies to Maui by forming a “Flotilla of Mercy” — a statewide effort wherein yachts are being deployed to deliver a list of specific supplies. The selection of the items was guided by the preferences of the local community — fostering a spirit of unity and consideration.
Other agencies have played an instrumental role in this joint effort. Noteworthy among the donated items are ten state-of-the-art suitcase water makers — ensuring clean water access for those in need. Also, in response to a request from the Maui Police, tents have been provided to offer shelter solutions — delivered the same day the Police posted their need.
