Need to know

Central Library closures

Last week's unplanned redistribution of water through some levels of the Central Library may not have been scheduled, but it was good practice for some of the Central Library's other closures, including a complete closure over the summer period. Remember, any resources from closed areas may be requested and retrieved through the Library catalogue.

Proposed pedestrian improvements to Ilam Rd

The Christchurch City Council is proposing to build median islands with pedestrian crossing points outside the University on Ilam Road, allowing pedestrians to cross the road more safely. They're looking for your feedback - read more details then fill out the submission form at the City Council website.

UC Transport Survey

Transport and car parking matters evoke keen interest and debate on university campuses the world over, including here at UC. Next Tuesday (31 July), all staff and students will be asked for their views on travelling to the University through an online survey.

Information gathered from the survey, which takes place every four years, is vital in helping UC cater for all travel modes. Make sure your voice is heard - fill out the survey when you spot it in your inbox next Tuesday.

$5 Food Quest
With food being such a hot topic for students we've decided to add a regular food review in Juice. One student is given $5 to find lunch on campus and give us a short write up on their $5 food experie. Here's the first review:

Café 101 - Roast Vege Quiche $4.40
"It was quite motivating to see a range of cooked and healthy(ish) food at Café 101, and all at a reasonable price - $5 could get you almost anything on offer, from a burger to a slice, to a wrap and a quiche. I decided to go for the most elegant and healthy-sounding option, and got myself a Roasted Vegetable Quiche at $4.40 (which is apparently a popular choice, since it was the last one there). The quiche was a colourful range of mashed veges, roasted pumpkin seeds, cheese and pesto – all adding to a tasty, guilt-free lunch, which was surprisingly filling and very decent for its price."
