Another month has passed and there has been quite a bit of news, relating to 'Brexit'.
We will show below where we, the UK, are currently at and what our memebrship to the EU still means.
As ever, our job at the Europe Direct Information Centre is to do what our name suggests - provide information.
We will endeavour to continue providing non-biased information, and not subjective opinion.

Current Brexit News
|
|
|
Yesterday (3rd November) the UK court ruled that Brexit needs parliament's approval.
This means that before triggering Article 50, parliament must be allowed to vote on what this actually entails.
The Government has an option to appeal this ruling.
This does not mean that the referendum result will be ignored. It does mean, if it is upheld, that the terms of Brexit will be put before Parliament for discussion and a vote.
Moving forward, the Government have 2 basic options:
A simple vote in parliament on whether to trigger Article 50
or
A new bill granting the right to leave the EU, which will have to be debated by lawmakers.

How am I affected?
The facts on where we are now, in relation to the UK and the EU, are quite simple:
Nothing has changed
All your rights as an EU citizen remain in place, as do those of citizens from other EU countries visiting or living in the UK.
They will cease to exist once negotiations have completed or the full 2 year term has come, once Article 50 has been triggered.

Avoiding the cost of mobile malware
Mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets have become ingrained in people’s daily lives.
Technology which was once only found on desktop computers can now be carried in the palm of one’s hands. Yet as the popularity of these devices explodes, the appetite of cyber criminals targeting these devices grows too.

Consumer Rights and Law
In the EU, consumer protection legislation guarantees that everyone has the right to be treated fairly when buying household goods at the supermarket, paying the bill at the energy supplier or downloading music.
The Charter of Fundamental Rights and the European treaties since the Single European Act guarantee a high level of consumer protection in the EU.
It is also a general objective defined in Article 12 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU.
European legislation guarantees consumers:
-
fair treatment;
-
products which meet acceptable standards;
-
a right of redress if something goes wrong.
