PICA's Artists in Residence

We're pleased to introduce you to our first crop of studio artists for 2016: Tiyan Baker, Shaun Prior, Zora Kreuzer and Sheyi Bankale. Tiyan is with us for just one more week so have a peek at her website to get a sense of her exciting digital portraiture practice.

Meanwhile Shaun, Zora and Sheyi will be speaking about their work and opening their doors at our upcoming Open Studio Night on Tuesday 5 April from 6pm. Come and see what they’ve been up to!

Shaun Prior (WA)
16 Feb - 24 April

Through a humorous, mystical and confronting exploration of masculinity, sexuality and the male body, Shaun Prior believes he can find poetry and splendour in the very constructs that have long frustrated and perplexed him. Shaun is using the studio as a site to explore connections between poetry and visual art, and in so doing contribute his idiosyncratic voice to discussions around gender and maleness.

Zora Kreuzer (GER)
10 March - 6 April

Zora Kreuzer uses colour and light to explore architectural spaces. During her PICA residency, Zora is using the urban imagery collected during her recent travels to America, Taiwan, Switzerland, Austria and Italy to create a new body of work. She is also creating a specific WA colour palette from colours found in the natural and urban environments here.

Sheyi Bankale (UK)
29 March - 29 April

London based curator and writer, Sheyi Bankale will be in residence to develop and publish a special Perth edition of UK photographic journal, Next Level. The Perth edition will be locally specific and globally visible, contributing to the discourse around photography today.

Food Truck Rumble
