Your attendance at these is important – this is your MECA! Thursday 24 September meeting (employer representatives, Ministry of Health, DHBs) The Ministry of Health, DHB representatives, the NZMA and Green Cross Health met on 24 September 2020 to gain a common understanding of progress in the Primary Care MECA bargaining. Here is the key message put out by the participants to the meeting: It was a useful and productive meeting during which all attendees gained a better appreciation of the issues, and recognised and agreed on the need for a consistent, sustainable approach to pay parity across the health system. Primary care nurses are seen as a priority workforce for progressing pay parity. Meeting attendees have agreed to work together on this issue, with an initial focus on the Primary Care MECA. Aside from the NZ Medical Association and Green Cross Health representing the employer parties, other participants included Nick Chamberlain DHB CE Lead for PHC, Cathy O’Malley GM NMDHB, Keriana Brooking CE HBDHB, Clair Perry DDG MOH, Tony O’Rourke ER MOH and TAS representation. It is positive to see the PHC MECA identified for the first time in a statement such as this. However, we do need to see a timely resolution. Below are details for both Zoom and Face-to-face union/stopwork meetings on 30 September 2020. ![]() Zoom meetings 10.30am – 11.30am As indicated the Zoom options have limited capacity and therefore are only for members at worksites where it is not possible to travel to a meeting. We encourage a group approach where possible in terms of worksites using Zoom, rather than lots of individuals logging on. This is to offer access to as many worksites and members as possible. If you have used Zoom before you know it’s as easy as clicking on the link below for your region/area to be connected to a Zoom meeting. You can access the meeting using a laptop (with camera and microphone – standard on any relatively modern laptop), or a tablet/iPad, or a smartphone. If you are going to use your iPad/tablet or smartphone, you will need to download the free Zoom app from your usual app store. Just look for the Zoom icon (as above) when searching the word “Zoom”. Face-to-face meetings 10.30am –11.30am As indicated the two hours of 10am – midday facilitate travel time to and from the meetings. The national schedule of these is below.
