Are You Tough Enough to Survive The Yomp?

Survive the Yomp

Join a small band of brave participants for the challenge of a lifetime as you get to take on one of the most arduous and infamous of the Royal Marines training exercises; the 30 Miler – the final test all Royal Marines must complete to earn their green beret.

Are you tough enough to Survive The Yomp and raise life changing sums for Royal Marines in need?

If the answer is yes then sign up now at www.commandospirit.com/register.aspx

Commando Spirit Thank you!

We are delighted to announce that since we launched in 2010, more than £650K has been raised for the Commando Spirit Appeal.

We would like to thank all of our participants and Ambassadors for their support.

Brave participants have raised life changing sums for the Appeal by facing some of the gruelling tests Royal Marines undertake to earn their green beret. So far participants have conquered underwater escape training in 'Escape The Dunker', advanced abseiling techniques in 'Take The Leap' – which included 'The Descent of the Shard' with HRH Prince Andrew – and this year we are giving you the chance to take on the famous 30 miler in 'Survive The Yomp'.

Have a Laugh with Commando Spirit!

For the second year running, The Stand Comedy Club Edinburgh is hosting a benefit comedy night with all proceeds going to the Commando Spirit Appeal on behalf of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.

Taking place on Tuesday, April 30th 2013, acts will include a regular assortment of Stand performers – all taking to the stage for free.

There will also be a raffle and the chance to win some excellent goodies on the night – all in the name of a great cause.

Last year’s event was a great success raising almost £2000 for the Appeal. This year we want as many people as possible to get involved.

Doors open at The Stand, on York Street, Edinburgh, at 7.30pm with the show starting at 8.30pm. All tickets are £7 – to reserve your place just email your details to info@commandospirit.com

Meet The Team: Paul Wilson, Route Manager

Paul, Route Manager for Survive The Yomp, who served with 42 and 45 Commando as well as FPGRM, now 43 Commando, has extensive experience of both undertaking and planning extreme treks and managing the associated risks.

He said: “The 30 Miler is a tough challenge which is why it’s the last one Royal Marines face during training. To take part in such an event in one of the most stunning parts of the country really is a once in a life-time experience.”

Inspiration from a former Royal Marine

Those looking for some motivation ahead of Survive The Yomp or just for life in general should check out a fantastic blog from former Royal Marine and Commando Spirit Ambassador, Ben Brabyn.

Ben’s Lessons from a Royal Marine blog offers a valuable insight into all aspects of Commando life. Here is a link to one of his posts on confronting your limitations and exceeding them: Darkest hour is just before dawn
