So many phone calls and down to the wire…. We have just received the following statement from NZMA: We are pleased to inform you that on the basis of commitments made today by the Ministry of Health and DHBs we are in a position to return to negotiations next week to discuss an improved offer – date to be confirmed. On this basis we will today withdraw the strike notices for 23 November and return to negotiations next week. We will confirm the negotiation date(s) on Monday and further advise. Also as indicated earlier, ensuring we meet next week was a vital component for us because if these negotiations do not present an acceptable resolution there is still time for us to review next steps before Christmas – if that is what members decide is necessary. There is no doubt our visible collective strength has made a difference. Take care and keep safe. Ngā mihi, Chris Wilson |
