SGS Office Summer Hours

Effective June 30 to August 28, the School of Graduate Studies Office will be closed during the lunch period. The SGS will be open from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and 1:30 to 4:30, Monday to Friday.

Heads up - Award Renewal Time!

If you have received a multi-year award, you will be asked to submit the Annual Progress/Renewal Scholarship Report two weeks prior to the anniversary of the award's start date. Watch your inbox for more information.

Advantage Award

If you are currently receiving this award (you must have started your program of study in or prior to September 2013) and are still eligible, you will need to submit your complete Advantage Award application for renewal as soon as possible. Late submissions will not be paid retro-actively.

Teaching as a Professional Responsibility

Plan to attend one of these workshop sessions in September if you are a new Graduate Teaching Assistant or were unable to attend one of the previous sessions of this workshop. More

ULSU Health and Dental Plan

All full-time students are automatically enrolled in the ULSU Health and Dental Plans. If you have alternative insurance benefits, you may choose to opt-out. To opt-out  online click here.

U-Pass Program

The GSA, in partnership with Lethbridge Transit, offers all graduate students reduced transit fares through a U-Pass program. If you have questions regarding the U-Pass and its distribution, please see the GSA website

Save the Date: Graduate Student Orientation Sept 7 to 12

Graduate student attendance throughout the day on September 7 and 8 as well as at other orientation events during the week is essential. The schedule for orientation will be posted in the SGS Events Calendar.

First Impressions

The GSA First Impressions program is designed to make the move to Lethbridge, or the move from undergrad to graduate student life, smoother for new students. Incoming graduate students are paired with current graduate students who are able to answer questions and provide information, usually via email. A campus tour is also (usually) the first part of this partnership.

2015-16 Revised Student Fees

In June 2015, the Provincial Government announced Bill 3, the proposed interim supply bill that proposed a freeze to tuition at the 2014-15 levels, as well as the elimination of market modifiers. 

 In July 2015, the University received clarification from the Government on the details of the fees to be frozen. The revised eligible tuition and mandatory fees for 2015-16 have now been approved by the Board of Governors and have been adjusted on the Summer 2015 fee assessments.  Adjustments can be viewed on the Bridge Account Summary page. GSA Collective Agreement

The Board of Governors and the Graduate Students’ Association have negotiated and ratified a new collective agreement which governs the paid employment of graduate students as graduate assistants at the University. The collective agreement is in effect from May 1, 2015 to April 30, 2018. All members of the University community are encouraged to review the agreement at the following link: GSA Collective Agreement.

SPOR 2015 Fall Studentship Competition

The Career Development in Methods and Health Services Research Platform is pleased to announce the first competition for the SPOR Graduate Studentship in Patient-Oriented Research. The program will fund up to eight (8) awards. The application deadline is October 1, 2015. 

Alberta Innovates- Health Solutions (AIHS) will host the studentship competition for the Alberta's Strategy for Patient Oriented Research (SPOR) SUPPORT Unit
