Avanti congratulates Eli Wallach for obtaining prestigious JDF Expert certification

Becomes one of seven certified JDF Experts in all of Canada

TORONTO, May 18, 2016Avanti Computer Systems Limited, a leading provider of cloud-based Print MIS solutions, today announced that Eli Wallach, Implementation Consultant for the company, has received his JDF Expert certification. Mr. Wallach is the second Avanti employee to attain this level of certification. He joins Josh Perkins, Product Manager at Avanti, who was the first-ever Canadian to become certified as a JDF expert in 2007. There are currently seven certified JDF Experts in all of Canada, and 87 worldwide.

The Job Definition Format (JDF) is the industry specification designed to facilitate process automation and the integration of different applications and systems in and around the graphic arts industry. Widely adopted and recognized worldwide as a key industry standard, JDF also enables the integration of business management and job planning applications into the production workflow. Streamlined implementation of integrations between JDF-certified systems enables precise communication, thereby reducing costly multiple “touches” on print jobs and eliminating the possibility of human error.

The JDF Expert Certificate initiative is a challenging program offered by CIP4, the standards association that developed JDF. The certificate is specifically designed for those persons leading their company’s efforts to implement JDF-based automated processes and Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM).

Tips on selecting – and implementing – a print MIS

Most people who read my articles know that I tend to focus on marketing, more specifically, B2B marketing and, even more specifically of late, B2B marketing in the print industry. And although I’ve spent my marketing career in the tech industry, I don’t consider myself a “techy” (I prefer the term Marketing Geekette).

So here we are. A marketing geekette offering tips on implementing a Print MIS. Fear not, I’m not going to get all “ jargonny” on you. Rather, I will look at some questions that are asked most often, as well as some best practices regarding Print MIS solutions that are utilized today.

As with any purchase, particularly one as complex as Print MIS, budget is clearly a factor when evaluating all offerings. It’s important to consider not only the cost of the solution, but also any organizational costs you may incur such as employee training and ongoing support and maintenance.

First and foremost you must determine your goals. Are you looking to reduce lead times, improve customer relationship management and retention, and/or reduce operating costs? Once you establish your key goals for the implementation, you can then clarify other considerations. <<READ MORE>>
