CHS Gala 2019
We’re five weeks away from our Celebration Gala! Due to changes in registration, we have been able to offer tickets to parents on the wait list. We anticipate things will continue to change in the weeks to come. Please connect with the Advancement Department at events@croftonhouse.ca if you are interested in attending or if you have any questions.

Lunar New Year Celebration
All parents and guardians are invited to celebrate the Year of the Pig at the 1st CHS Lunar New Year Celebration on Tuesday, February 12 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm in Manrell Hall. Please RSVP online by February 1.

Senior Band Concert
All families are invited to come and hear the Grade 10-12 Concert Band perform on Wednesday, February 6, at 7:00 pm in the theatre of the Beedie Fine Arts Centre.

Cinderella Project Dress Drive
The Grad Committee will be collecting donations of new or gently-used formal wear, dresses, suits, shoes, and accessories from Monday, January 28 to Friday, February 8. Items will be donated to the Cinderella Project, a charity that supports youth across the Lower Mainland by providing high school graduates with positive mentorship and formal attire so they can attend their graduation celebrations with pride. If you would like to support these graduates, please consider donating to help dress a Cinderella or Cinderfella. Items can be donated during drop-off or pick-up in the Senior School upper foyer.

Senior School Epiphany Celebration
The Senior School French and Spanish classes celebrated Epiphany the first week back from winter break. Epiphany was originally a religious celebration, but over time, it has become a widespread cultural event in France, Spain, most Latin American countries, as well as in Canada and the US. It is celebrated on January 6 of every year. A special dessert, the Kings' Cake, is served and many traditions are observed to mark the occasion and bring family, friends, and sometimes strangers, together.

Run for the Cure
Thank you to parents, students, and teachers who participated in and donated to the Run for the Cure on September 30. Crofton House School has once again been awarded the School Team Challenge Award for being the top fundraising school team in the Vancouver CIBC Run for the Cure. Congratulations!

Nutritionist Diana Steele Visits the Junior School
Students in Grades 4 to 7 heard from nutritionist Diana Steele last week. Supporting the Physical and Health Education curriculum, Diana spoke to students about healthy eating choices and how they can improve their eating habits at school and home.

Learning Soundscape in Music
Grade 3 students are currently learning about soundscape for storybooks with the assistance of Artist-in-Residence Devin Roth. Students collectively created acoustic sounds when reading passages, while learning the impact of adding sound effects and music to a story.

CHS Parents' Auxiliary

The Parents’ Auxiliary welcomes the CHS community back after what we hope was a restful and enjoyable winter break. We have many events to look forward to for the second half of the school year and we hope everyone can participate as a guest, a volunteer, or both.

Father-Daughter Bingo
Due to popular demand, we have extended the deadline for registration to February 1 for families from SK to Grade 7 who have not yet signed up. This year’s rainbow- and unicorn-themed event will feature food, fun, and exciting new prizes. It's guaranteed to be a special night for dads and daughters! The event will be held on Thursday, February 7 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We continue to welcome and appreciate donations, which can be dropped off at the Junior School office.

Service Friday – February 22
A second Service Friday event will be held on Friday, February 22. Senior School families, together with Cooking For a Cause, will create nutritious and tasty meals for downtown east-side centres that provide services and outreach to people facing food insecurities.
