Foreword: Dr. Ian Hill, IB Deputy Director General
For those of you in the Northern Hemisphere summer is fast approaching while in the Southern Hemisphere you will soon be greeted by the winter months. I am writing again to you from the IB Foundation Office in Geneva, Switzerland, where the IB began in 1968. In that same year I started my teaching career in Tasmania, Australia, though I wasn’t to know about the IB until almost 20 years later.
The Diploma Programme examinations have now taken place for the May 2012 session and over 119,455 students who participated eagerly await their results on 5 July. Does this bring back any memories?

The NY Times College Life Fair
The alumni relations team was on hand at the New York Times College Life Fair, held in Chicago, Illinois on 31 May. IB staff members spoke with current and prospective IB students about how to make the best of their IB experience as they begin to prepare to apply for university admissions.
Students that stopped by the IB booth also had the opportunity to try their hand at correctly answering trivia questions.

Research updates
We thought you might be interested to hear about some recent studies on the performance of IB students, since they are, well, about you.
Post-secondary success of DP students from Chicago Public Schools by the Consortium for Chicago School Research at the University of Chicago was released in March.
The Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) has released a report further documenting PYP and MYP student performance on the ISA as well as investigating perceptions, attitudes and wellbeing of IB students through student questionnaires.
