The NIH Planning Grant Program may support (R34)​: 

  • development of tools for data management and research oversight
  • development of a trial design or experimental research designs 
  • preparation of an procedures manual
  • pilot studies or collection of feasibility data for subsequent research projects
  • Direct costs limited to $225,000/year and $450,000/3 year project period

MCW Digestive Disease Center: New and Established Investigator Grants
$20,000/year
GCO Due Date: 12/23/19

Investigator-initiated research grants that support original research on digestive diseases, including upper gut motility and acid related diseases, inflammatory bowel diseases, pancreaticobiliary diseases, lower gut motility and functional bowel disorders, GI malignancy surveillance and treatments, and hepatology and liver transplantation. Principal Investigators must be full-time members of the Medical College of Wisconsin faculty, and only one proposal may be submitted per Principal Investigator.

Central Surgical Association Enrichment Award and Turcotte Award
$20,000/year
GCO Due Date: 1/13/20

The applicant or the principal investigator must be a member in good standing of the Central Surgical Association. The applicant will need to explain how the CSA member is directly involved in the research. Special consideration will be given to member applicants who are junior faculty at the Assistant Professor level who have not yet obtained federal funding (K, R series NIH or equivalent DoD funding) to support early career development and to serve as seed money to obtain these grants in the future. All research proposals must have IRB approval (or documentation of exemption) at the time of submission.

American Heart Association (AHA): 2020 Transformational Project Award
$300,000/3 years
GCO Due Date: 1/15/20

The AHA funds basic, clinical, behavioral, translational and population research, bioengineering/biotechnology and public health problems broadly related to fulfilling our mission to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.
