New year, new look
Our new exhibitions feature artists from all over the world. Tom Muller is Swiss Australian, Jean-Thomas Vannotti is Swiss, Moya McKenna is from Melbourne, Maria Fernanda Cardosa is a Columbian who lives in Sydney and Nathalie Doust is a Canadian based in Berlin. We were fortunate to have all these artists with us at our opening last Friday, which also featured a fantastic ambient gig from local electronic ensemble, Masonik. People are also loving the eccentric cartoons and paintings by Alistair Morrison, curated from the City of Fremantle Art Collection.
The work by Maschi Fontana and Nathalie Daoust are part of this year's Perth International Arts Festival Visual Arts Program.
These exhibitions contrast with the exhibition just closed, Home Open: Fremantle Artists and their Collections, a hugely popular exhibition attracting more than 12,000 visitors.
Courtyard Music, our free Sunday music program is booming. Don Walker and the Lucky Strikes attracted a record audience, and we are also looking forward to a big response to our free WASO show on Sunday 13 February.
Thank you to everyone for their patience during the building facelift when the inner courtyard was filled with scaffolding for a month. All the mortar and tuck pointing has been renewed which will ensure the building's survival for many more years. Similar work has been completed on the main Ord and Finnerty Street facades.
The Café has a new early opening time of 8am and closes 4pm. Coffee and pre-made snacks are available after 2pm when the kitchen closes. The café opens seven days a week.
I hope we see you soon at Fremantle Arts Centre.
