It is well to remember that there are five reasons for drinking: the arrival of a friend, one's present or future thirst, the excellence of the wine, or any other reason.

Vigneron's cheese box available over Easter

For Easter we will have some deliciously local treats available to snack on with a glass of Scion wine.

Our Vigneron’s Cheese Box ($20) is perfect for sharing between two as a substantial snack or light lunch. It features Milawa Cheese “John Brown” 5 year Aged Cheddar, Milawa Camembert, Wicked Virgin Premium dipping olive oil & mixed olives and other delightful goodies.

Sweet tooths are not forgotten with our Middle Eastern Citrus-almond syrup cake ($8, gluten free) served with Gundowring vanilla bean ice cream.

We’ll also have Gundowring ice cream by the scoop. For little ones, we have a hokey pokey topping and for big kids, add a pour of our Scion Rose Muscat 2012.

Vintage cycling revelry in Rutherglen this May

It’s a little-known fact that Rowly, when he’s not making wine, loves to comb the op shops of the North East. And so we are on the hunt for Tweed Ride-inspired threads for The Sweet Cycle event on Saturday 18 May.

Scion Vineyard is the final hoorah on The Sweet Cycle, a gentle 25km ride around through the picturesque plains of Rutherglen interspersed with boutique food and wine experiences. The ride will stop at Jones Winery for a French-inspired brunch and Valhalla Wines for a pique-nique in the vines before finishing at our cellar door with an “After Dark”, chocolate and cheese experience.

Lads, dig out your Tweed jackets, flat caps and watch fobs! Ladies, dust off your pedal pushers, pillbox hats and fur stoles.

It’s a frolicsome full-day affair for $90. For bookings use this link: www.highcountryharvest.com.au/details/59

Canberra wine dinner at The Artisan this May

Jan is visiting Canberra to share a special autumn evening with Scionistas at The Artisan. Join Jan for an aperitif wine on arrival followed by an intimate, three-course dinner dished up by the artisans themselves, David Black and Sam McGeechan. The contemporary menu will meet its match with Scion's innovative wines, including the first exclusive peek at our new Durif Viognier!
