How to keep your home cool!

It's been a hot summer so far! We know the power bill can take a beating with the airconditioner or fans on all the time so here are some other tips to help keep your home cool!

1. Keep curtains or blinds closed in the middle of the day to lock out the heat and retain the cool air.

2. Turn your TV off when you aren't in the room - tv's give off heat!

3. Avoid cooking hot meals in the oven.

Top 3 Tips to save water

Saving water, especially in summer is really important. Not only does it mean you care about the environment but you save on your bills! Here are some simple tips to try.

1. Turn off the tap when you are brushing your teeth

2. Check your toilet for leaks, this can save up to 4500L a month!

3. Reducing your shower from 10min to 5min can save an average 23L a day!

Plants that repel mosquitoes!

In summer we Aussies are renowned for our barbecues, especially with Australia Day coming up! Unfortunately, this outside tradition comes with a downside of flies and mosquitoes. Here are some plants that repel mosquitoes (or so we've been told!)

1. Lemongrass- Apparently they don't like the citrus scent! As an added bonus you can add some flavour to your cooking!

2. Catnip - Supposedly works better than actual repellent! Best kept in hanging pots so it doesn't take over the garden.

3. Marigold - Also repels aphids! Easy to maintain and great with a veggie garden.

The Marri View Display

From first impressions the elevation offers all the romance of a traditional Rural Building Company home, with featured bush pole supports, an extensive wrap around split pitch verandah and with exposed timber rafters. Detailed elements such as feature brickwork accented with render, and weatherboard panels contribute to the Australian feel of the home.
