Click here Barnard College - Special Update Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016Dear Claremont resident: After working with the City of New York’s Building Department and the FDNY this morning, we determined that the speed and direction of today’s wind did not meet the threshold for having to completely lower the crane, so it is safe for it to remain on the site. The crane will not be in operation, but will remain in its current location. As a result, Claremont Avenue has reopened this afternoon. However, because the weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday has worsened and high winds are again predicted, we will likely – as a precaution – completely lower the crane sometime tomorrow (Friday), move it onto Claremont Avenue and secure it for the weekend. If this does occur, Claremont would remain closed the entire weekend. We will make the final decision tomorrow morning after we receive updated forecasts. We will provide an update tomorrow and send information on any closures and parking limitations. As always, we appreciate your patience and are dedicated to providing information in a timely manner. The safety of our communities remains of utmost importance to Barnard and we apologize for the inconvenience. Questions?
