Meet your ShareSLO Ambassador

After weeks on the campaign trail, several close encounters with the walls of Bubblegum Alley and plenty fierce yet friendly competition, San Luis Obispo is proud to announce the winner of the ShareSLO Ambassador contest. Say hello to Bentley Murdock, our first-ever SLO Ambassador.

Ambassador Murdock is powered by a commitment to inspire those around him and spent the last 15 years helping young people across SLO county reach their goals. Now, fresh from his swearing in ceremony, he’s getting ready to barnstorm the central coast and spread the word about the wonders of San Luis Obispo.

On your mark…Get set…SLO!

After last year’s ultra-successful inaugural event, organizers and athletes are getting ready to do it all again with the 2nd annual San Luis Obispo Marathon, April 5-7, 2013. Expected to triple in attendance this year, the race offers full, half and 5k routes for runners and walkers of every level, highlighting the beauty of San Luis Obispo. Proceeds from the race benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The 2013 San Luis Obispo Marathon + Half courses take participants through the town’s charming downtown corridor, past landmarks like the Old Fremont Theatre and Mission San Luis Obispo and then out into the renowned Edna Valley vineyards and farmland. Both races end at the iconic Madonna Inn property with a panoramic finish in the shadow of Cerro San Luis that both locals and visitors will appreciate.
