The courts were packed with teams determined to win the coveted prize. Project Gateway Connects Incoming College Students with Peer MentorsOn Saturday, July 13th, incoming college freshmen attended a Freshman Transition Fair to gain practical advice on what to expect during their first semester of college. This event was made possible by our College Advisory Council (CAC) mentors, our sponsor Brooklyn Food & Beverages, our host Henry Street Settlement, and the EastBridge Foundation. Change Begins With Communication - Networking with JPMorgan ChaseOn Friday, June 21st, the Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) coordinated a successful workshop with Lai Ling Li, a Vice President at JPMorgan Chase (JPMC), titled “Asian American Game Changers: Influencing Changes and Driving Innovation,” as part of the BEST Mentorship Program. FAMILY SUPPORTWe make it easier for individuals and families to access personalized social resources because support is fundamental at every age. CPC Brooklyn Community Services 10th Annual Health Fair and Family DayMore than 500 community members joined CPC's Brooklyn Community Services for a day full of face painting, free giveaways, health screenings, fitness demonstrations, dozens of games and a raffle drawing of over $1,000 worth of prizes. It was generously supported by 45 sponsors, elected officials, and community partners. CPC & Spectrum Distributes Free Safe & Healthy Home Kits at Hong Ning Housing for the ElderlyCPC and Charter Spectrum partnered to distribute Safe and Healthy Home Kits to the tenants of Hong Ning Housing for the Elderly. The Wellness Team, along with Hong Ning’s property management staff from TUC Management, distributed 120 kits to residents. COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENTWe empower New Yorkers to represent and to advocate for themselves and their communities because their leadership is essential for positive—and lasting—social change. We engage with individuals to plan and develop their career paths because professional success is critical for economic independence. Brooklyn Community Services Hosts Immigration and Know Your Rights Forum On Thursday, July 25th, community members had the opportunity to learn more about how to protect themselves, empower them when interacting with ICE or police, setting up a safety plan, among other things.
