Jeremy Corbyn needs to find a way out of the bitter dispute over accusations of antisemitism within his party. But Matthew Flinders fears the Labour leader has become the “Where’s Wally of Westminster” this year, notable largely by his absence during major debates. That is an understandable strategy for the opposition when it comes to some topics, such as Brexit, but really doesn’t wash on an issue as emotive as antisemitism.
Constipation, bad breath and insomnia – just some of the side effects of the keto diet. This fat-burning food regime – which sees people eat huge amounts of meat, nuts and dairy – is highly popular among celebrities and is said to help aid weight loss. But does it work and is it actually safe to eat so much high-fat food? Dietician Sophie Medlin explains the research on the latest fad diet.
In the latest instalment of Curious Kids, one seven-year-old wants to know what fire is. Mark Lorch shines some light on the topic, with a little help from some basic chemistry and a cave man. If you know a child with a burning question, send it to curiouskids@theconversation.com, along with their name, age and town or city of residence, and we’ll seek to find an expert to answer it.
Meanwhile, our colleagues at The Conversation Africa have been following Zimbabwe’s historic election closely – in particular, the unrest that flared up as the results came in.
