Happy New Year dear Hot Bottlers!

A big cheer to you if you've just finished DryJanuary. What better way to celebrate than to raise a glass with Olly at one of these fantastic events?

AN EVENING WITH OLLY, CORNEY & BARROW AND THE BUMBLEBEE CONSERVATION TRUST Thursday 13th February.

Olly, Patron of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, and Corney & Barrow are delighted to be co-hosting an evening of fabulous wine and food with a special bee talk from Gill Perkins, CEO of the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, to raise funds for the Trust and raise awareness of how important our buzzy friends are.  

The evening, at Corney & Barrow's HQ in London, will showcase some of the produce our bees pollinate in a carefully chosen menu. Drinks will include Olly's very own bee-friendly gin cocktail, made with the Garden Shed Gin Company, as well as top-notch English sparkling, Ambriel, and wines from other organic producers.

Signed copy of Olly's book Fizz with every ticket purchased and all profits will be donated to the Trust.

TASTE PORTUGAL'S TOP WINES WITH THREE WINE MEN Thursday 27th February.

Three Wine Men are back! Their first event of the year shines a light on the ongoing evolution of Portuguese winemaking.

Join Olly, Oz Clarke OBE and Tom Surgey at The Boiler House in London’s Brick Lane for an evening of sipping splendidly. With 100s of Portuguese wines to taste, authentic Portuguese pesticos (tapas) to try and a unique chance to chat to the winemakers in person, this will be a truly special showcase of Portugal's fabulous fare.

HOT BOTTLES

White: Viognier Gres du Trias, Coteaux de l’Ardeche, Vignerons Ardechois 2018 (14%) £9.95 The Wine Society. For a fragrant, sumptuous white with gentle gingery spice and stunning richness this is the best white anywhere for the price. I bought some for my Dad who is now rampaging through the Wine Society’s stock - do get in quick, the man has an unslakable thirst for this stuff. Immense paired with chicken Korma.

Red: Mencia Bierzo 2017 (14%) £9.99 Waitrose. Rich, spicy, scented, deep and delicious this is 100% Mencia from 45 year old vines delivering vibrant flavour with an impressive long-lasting turbine of a finish. Great to see Waitrose championing lesser-known grape varieties like this Spanish stunner and if you can find it, stick a decent stash in your basket, it’s a superb all-round red that over-delivers for under a tenner.
