Speaker Research Medal Nominations

This medal recognizes the central importance of research, scholarship and performance to the philosophy and goals of the UofL and provides recognition to those members of the academic staff who excel in these areas. More

New Grad Student Lounge

Grad students are able to use the Grad Student Lounge  for studying, storing food, making tea or coffee, playing foosball, having group meetings, and more! 

Booking: Email the GSA or visit during their office hours.

Using the space: If you would like to use the space, please visit the GSA office in M2041 to receive the access code. As this is a grad student space only, please bring your student ID!

Distinguished Dissertation Awards 

See the CAGS website for nomination criteria, process and checklist.

Eligibility: PhD students who successfully defended their thesis and were approved by the Dean, SGS from Jan - Dec, 2014.

Nomination packages should  include:

  • A letter from the student’s Supervisor or program director describing the reasons for the nomination and why the dissertation constitutes a significant piece of original work.
  • Nominee’s current email address
  • External’s current email address.

The Multicultural Classroom Forum

Dr. Hillary Rodrigues will chair a panel-based forum explores issues related to being a graduate student on an ethnically diverse campus and what impact these issues may have on teaching and learning.

Community Engagement Fellowships
in First Nation Communities

Engage North, a program of the University of Alberta, and IC-IMPACTS are sponsoring the 2015 Community Engagement Fellowship Program. This program is specifically designed for graduate students interested in working with a First Nations or Inuit community and offers opportunities for students to work with northern Canadian First Nations and Inuit communities on four-month long community-identified projects, which will help to provide capacity and respond to challenges facing a community’s health, sustainability, and prosperity. More

Flights, accommodation and monthly stipends are provided.
The deadline for applications is Fri, Mar 6th.
