Mothers figure prominently in Kidney March.
We thought you might like to meet a few who exemplify the spirit of the March.
Sherri Wuetherick walked in the first ever Kidney March last year. She describes it as her incredible 3 day all inclusive vacation which included hiking, camping, and spending time with a lot of inspiring people. Sherri’s daughter was born with kidney disease and a number of other medical conditions.
She was on dialysis for 8 years and was fortunate to receive a transplant 2 years ago. Sherri knows this is something her daughter will live with for the rest of her life. She’s walking 100 kilometers to raise money for research and to support other patients and their families who have been affected by kidney disease.
Angela Rosborough and her Mom, Doreen marched last year and they are marching again in September. Angela’s Dad has been fighting kidney disease for many years. He is on dialysis six nights a week and is hoping for a kidney donor.
Doreen is his rock. Angela is inspired by her Dad’s strength and her Mom’s dedication and love.
18 year old Shannon Whittleton decided to do Kidney March for two reasons. Her friend’s son was born just before Christmas and has been on dialysis since birth. Shannon is deeply impacted by the courage of this family. When she heard about Kidney March on the radio she knew it was something she wanted to do. She also wants to be a role model for her own 2 year old son. Being a single mom has been challenging but Shannon is so grateful for the support she has had from her family, the community and her school, she wants to give back.
When Shannon’s Mom, Sandy learned Shannon planned to do Kidney March, she decided to join her. She is inspired by her daughter and looks forward to improving her fitness level over the next four months as she prepares for the March.
Our Kidney March team wishes a Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms who inspire us with their commitment, courage and love.
