CHAP Project Winding Up

As this is our final CHAP team newsletter, we would like to thank everyone for their involvement in the project. After commencing in October 2019, this $3.3M NHMRC partnership between consumers, policy makers, service providers, clinicians and researchers will officially end on 30 June 2023.

We are currently preparing the CHAP Final Report that will be ready for distribution at our Final Showcase on Tuesday 20 June 2023 - that will be available for download from our website here.  For more information about the Showcase - see below.

 

Successful NHMRC Grant Announced

Huge congratulations to Prof Robyn Clark and team who have been successful in winning $2.2M NHMRC partnership grant to deliver the 'safe@home' project. This project will focus on the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of telemonitoring and virtual care supported by primary care for people living with chronic disease in low socioeconomic neighbourhoods for reducing ambulance ramping, readmission and GP clinic block with Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN). Most Downloaded EJCN Paper in 2022

Congratulations Katie Nesbitt and team for being awarded the most downloaded paper from the European Journal or Cardiovascular Nursing (EJCN) in 2022 on UX Design as co-design methodology. This honour will be awarded at the Association of Cardiovascular Nursing & Allied Professionals (ACNAP) Congress Welcome Reception and EJCN Award Ceremony on 23 June 2023 in Edinburgh Castle, Scotland.

Congratulations to our CV Champions

Congratulations Dr Lemlem Gebremichael and Dr Alejandra Pinero de Plaza for becoming CV Champions, by successfully completing the 12 month Australian Cardiovascular Alliance (ACvA) Cardiovascular (CV) Champions Program throughout 2022 - 2023. This course provides Early and Mid-Career Researchers with leadership development opportunities to become future leaders in the CV research sector.

CHAP sub-projects - CR4ALL & CREW

Our two sub-projects will continue beyond 30 June 2023 with CR4ALL - Cardiac Rehabilitation for All (funded by Flinders Foundation to improve CR for disadvantaged populations in rural and remote SA) until 31 January 2024 and CREW - Cardiac Rehabilitation Especially for Women (funded by The Hospital Research Foundation to improve CR for women in rural and remote SA) until  31 May 2024.

The CHAP website will remain active for at least 3 years post project closure to continue to provide you with access to all the resources and outcomes developed during the project including: recordings from CPD sessions and workshops, CHAP publications and posters, Statewide PREMS and Discharge Forms plus lots more including details about the project, team and sub-projects.

 
 

Looking for women to help design the CR website

Women with cardiovascular disease who have undertaken CR and are living in regional SA are invited to participate in two workshops (on Tuesday 6th June and / or Monday 19th June) to help design the CR especially for women (CREW) website either online or in person in Mt Gambier. For more information or to register your interest, contact Ora Suebkinorn.

 
 

CR Website being Upgraded

CHAP's online CR website is being updated to include more information especially for women. The change over to the new website will occur at the start of July - so keep an eye out. The web address will remain the same.

 
 

CPD Sessions Online

The recordings from our monthly Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions from June 2000 to December 2022 are available on YouTube that can be accessed via our website here.

Dr Joyce Ramos is currently attending the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Congress in Colorado in order to present a poster on 'A Preliminary-analysis Investigating The Web-based Cardiac Rehabilitation Needs And Preferences Of Women In Rural Australia'.

 
 

Digital & Technology Transformation Forums | 23 - 24 May 2023 | Sydney

Dr Alejandra Pinero de Plaza was invited to speak at the Aged Care and Disability Services Digital & Technology Transformation Forums on 'How can research, advocacy, and innovation come together to improve digital health for better care?'. You can view her presentation here.

Prof Robyn Clark will be presenting at the Annual Congress of the Association of Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professionals (ACNAP) Congress on behalf of CHAP team in the UK. Prof Jeroen Hendriks will also be presenting, chairing a number of sessions and acting as twitter ambassador for this event.

 
 

SARHRE Conference | 24-25 June 2023 | Barossa

Dr Norma Bulamu, Dr Joyce Ramos and Dr Lemlem Gebremichael will be presenting at the inaugural SA Rural Health Research and Education (SARHRE) Conference on the business model, CREW, telehealth and evidence-based pharmacotherapy at the Novotel.

 
 

World NCD Congress 2022 | 25-30 June 2023 | Toronto

Prof Robyn Clark and Dr Alline Beleigoli will be attending the World Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Congress in Canada to present on 'Telehealth,  reduction of waiting time and primary care support are key to cardiac rehabilitation participation in people with low socio-economic status in rural Australia'.
