When the Town was on the hunt for someone to produce giant letters for use at events, we needed to look no further than the Victoria Park Men’s Shed. The Town covered costs and the Men’s Shed jumped into the project, producing mock-ups and manuals and sourcing equipment from all over the world to deliver a fantastic end product which will be much used and loved. Keep an eye out for the letters at our next big event! Sporting Walk of Fame The Sporting Walk of Fame formally recognises and honours people who have a strong connection to the Town of Victoria Park that have achieved sporting success at an elite level or made significant contributions to the elite sporting arena. This includes all people who have impacted positively in the realm of elite sport and were, for example, an individual athlete, team player, administrator, official, coach or umpire. Inductions take place every four years with nominations for 2018 open now. Improvement works in January Albany Highway resurfacing Asphalt resurfacing is happening on Albany Highway from McMillan Street to Teddington Road, starting Tuesday 2 January 2018 until Friday 5 January 2018. Works will occur from 7am to 6pm. Traffic detours and temporary parking restrictions will be in place. Please help us out by following the temporary parking restrictions and keeping the road clear during these times. Harold Rossiter Reserve irrigation upgrade The current irrigation system at Harold Rossiter Reserve is ageing, is inefficient and no longer meets operational requirements. The Town is replacing the system with a new design that separates the playing from the passive areas to create hydrozones. This helps to avoid underwatering and overwatering to ensure that water is used efficiently. Works will occur in stages between December 2017 and April 2018. Ursula Frayne underpass improvements Entrances to the Ursula Frayne underpass on Shepperton Road, Victoria Park are being rendered to improve safety and appearance. Works begin on Monday 8 January 2018 and will run for two weeks. The underpass will be closed during this time You can find out more about these projects on our website. Local Government Act review The Local Government Act is being reviewed for the first time since it was created in 1995. The changes made will have a very real impact on how the Town operates.
