April Newsletter

Main Content Inline Small

Hi , and welcome to the April Newsletter.

My name is Chris Johnstone, and I am taking over the KKL newsletter from Tony who finished up with KKL last month.

I have been with KKL just over 4 years now (I was the first official employee), and have worked on a number of great projects for our clients. I am the Product Manager for two of our fantastic packages: CRMConnect and 4Hire.

Right, enough about me! Let’s talk about some of the exciting things happening at KKL this month.

Microsoft Dynamics 2011

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend the Microsoft Partner Road Show where the main focus was “The Cloud”. Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 is the first version that can truly exist in The Cloud. You don’t need to buy any expensive servers, get someone to install CRM, manage updates etc… Microsoft will take care of all of this for you. You get charged per month for how many users you have in the system, and you can change this every month, up or down, without limit.

If you’re not quite comfortable with all of your company’s information and client data being stored elsewhere, then there are still options available with CRM 2011.

We can setup a self-hosted version of CRM 2011 that sits in your office. You can reduce your upfront costs by using a monthly subscription license, with no need to purchase expensive hardware (we will rent the hardware to you for a small fee). You are aslo able to use this server for any other needs you have, including hosting your MYOB Exo Business database. This version is as customisable as the traditional on-premise version of CRM.

If all of that sounds nice, but you still want the traditional model for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, then that option is still available of course.

Give us a call to discuss the best option for you!

Historical Stock Valuation Report for MYOB Exo Business

Forget about going into Exo Config and recalculating the Weighted Average Cost for a particular date just to find out what the Avecost was for a particular Stock Item on a certain date! If you have ever done that before you know that it can take from 2-10 minutes depending on the number of stock lines and transactions in the system. And make sure that no-one is transacting on the database at the time, as Exo will use this Average Cost as the current Avecost and this may throw things out!

This report allows you to simply select the date as a parameter and within seconds you are looking at a full list of Average Costs for all your stock items. Using the full history of your Exo accounting system, choose any date from the beginning of your records until the current moment.

Not only do you get the Average Cost on the date you select, but also the Historical Stock Levels! This allows you to calculate the value of stock on hand for any location and date, which is very important if your business is going through any form of auditing or compliance tests.
