FMA releases final guidance on non-GAAP financial information

The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has today released its final guidance note on the disclosure of non-GAAP financial information.

The guidance note will assist issuers in their communication of financial information to investors and other stakeholders to minimise the potential for it to be misleading.

The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) is reminding investors to be wary of unsolicited offers being made by Stock & Share Trading Company Pty Limited for shares and other securities. Stock & Share's offers are often for significantly less than the market value of the securities.

New investing resources to celebrate Money Week

To celebrate New Zealand’s inaugural Money Week (2-8 September), we’ve launched a new range of investor resources:

• Investing basics – comprehensive new website information to help investors develop a plan, choose investments and keep track of them

• A new range of consumer flyers you can order or download:

o Confidence comes from sound advice

o 5 questions to ask your financial adviser

In addition, our Head of Primary Regulatory Operations, Sue Brown, will be participating in a NZ Herald online chat at noon on Wednesday 5 September about how consumers can become more informed as investors.

She’ll answer questions about what FMA does, explain about the different types of financial advisers and what to expect from them, and how consumers can access and understand information about the products they are thinking of investing in.
