Teenagers from across the North West have been joining us at a series of events to explore how tobacco companies use glitzy and sophisticated packaging to entice children and young people to smoke.
The events were a great success and many of the teenagers who attended are now looking to take their new knowledge back to their youth groups, schools and friends to educate others about tobacco industry tactics and gain more support for standardised tobacco packaging. Similar successful events took place in April.
As part of spreading the message about standard packs the young people were keen to take a stand against tobacco industry marketing by putting together quotes for local media which you view here. We have had lots of media coverage in all four regions, including in the Manchester Evening News, Liverpool Echo, Lancashire Telegraph and the North West Evening Mail. Find out more here.

We have had an independent review of our Supporting a Smokefree Pregnancy Scheme. The report highlights that the use of quasi-financial incentives (shopping vouchers), combined with structured support from a stop smoking advisor is an effective means of enabling women who are pregnant to give up smoking. Hi and welcome to your November eNews.
It has been a busy but inspiring couple of weeks with our team touring the North West to talk to teenagers about tobacco industry tactics and marketing techniques.
Thank you to everyone who helped us recruit young people for the events. As always it was very interesting to hear how young people felt they had been personally affected by the marketing of tobacco products which reminds us why we are so passionate about protecting young people.
We are also happy to have received the independent review of our Smokefree Pregnancy scheme which you can view here. The results of the scheme have been very positive, showing that the approach is an effective way of enabling pregnant women to quit.
