Dear Brewmaster,

Would like to know when my favorite Whoop Ass Wit is coming back!!! I miss it dearly, I keep asking Kelly for its return.

Sue B.

Hey Sue,

Thanks for the love. Right now we don't know exactly when Whoop Ass is going to make its return. It's usually right around the beginning of spring, but with this weather I think everyone is thrown off of our standard seasonal schedule. My best guess is May at this point. In the meantime, we'll have our White Eye PA back at the beginning of April - that might be a good substitute for you until the Wit returns.

This is definitely a treat for all of those hop heads out there looking for your next fix. Beware though, some of these beers are in very short supply, so if you want to be sure to taste them before they’re gone, you’ll want to get down here starting April 1st!

404 Scytale Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout has been taking the palettes of craft beer enthusiasts on some wild journeys since we released it earlier this month. Have you unlocked all of its secrets yet? Now available at both of our brewpubs and select beer stores.

Our legendary Cerveza Chilebeso is finally getting its day to shine as we bottle it up and send it abroad to travel far and wide. Perhaps the first craft beer to be brewed using fresh chile peppers, this beer is a winner, literally. In fact, it's taken home gold medals in the Herb and Spice Beer category each time we've entered it into the Great American Beer Festival® (1994, 1997, and 1999).

To celebrate its release we’re throwing a huge party at our Taps & Tanks location that will feature a live mariachi band, tacos, Chilebeso t-shirts available for purchase, games & prizes! Pick up your bottle of Cerveza Chilebeso at the party for $4.95 and get a commemorative poster. Proceeds from the party will be donated to Rotary International to help eradicate polio across the globe.

Reno Craft Beer Week

We’re thrilled to be a part of the inaugural Reno Craft Beer Week. There are events scheduled all over town that will celebrate the rich brewing community we now have in the area and how far craft beer has come since we first opened back in 1993.

Not many breweries are older than we are, but Drake’s Brewing out of San Leandro, California is one of them; started in 1988, they’re most well-known for their hop-forward beers. We’re teaming up with them for a special Reno Craft Beer Week release that will bring the best of Great Basin Brewing and Drake’s together. You’ll have to wait to find out about what we’re cooking up, but rest assured it’ll be a doozy.

We’ll also be involved in the following Reno Craft Beer Week events:

Sunday 4/19
• Drinkable Reno Bus Tour
• Brewers’ Cabinet Strange Brew Festival

Monday 4/20
• IPApril Brewmaster’s Pairing Night

Tuesday 4/21
• Release of our Collaboration Beer with Drake’s Brewery
• USBG Craft Beer Cocktail Competition at 1864 Tavern featuring Great Basin beers

Wednesday 4/22
• Sour Beer Tap Takeover at Chapel Tavern

Friday 4/24
• Cerveza Chilebeso Release Party at Taps and Tanks

Saturday 4/25
