Waiver of Premium: Often Overlooked, But Very Important
In a majority of Group Life Insurance policies, there is a provision called Waiver of Premium. This provision allows the group life insurance policy to continue for an employee in the event of becoming disabled or ill, and unable to work for longer than (usually) six months. The employer will continue to pay the premiums during the disability and up until the premium waiver is approved by the carrier. After this approval, the employer and employee will pay no additional premium for the life insurance benefit.
