1300apprentice Welcomes Ben Aboard
1300apprentice would like to introduce and welcome Ben Eggmolesse who is taking over from Rebecca Johnson as our third Apprentice and Trainee Field Officer for Sydney. Rebecca has recently been appointed 1300apprentice’s Business Development Manager.
Ben brings a wealth of experience to the 1300apprentice team. Ben grew up in Mount Isa making him a maroons supporter but we wont hold that against him (well…much) and began his career working in the mining industry which is the backbone of the Mount Isa economy. From there Ben moved into a role working with long term unemployed people, focusing on people with drug and alcohol barriers.
Ben moved to Sydney in 2007 and worked at a drug rehabilitation centre as a caseworker, then worked with high needs/risk youth as a youth worker.
Ben has seen the end product of what happens when our young people are neglected, and not helped properly. Ben says “That's why I have a passion for working with young people, because we can help direct them down the right path before they make life altering mistakes.”
Ben’s half Aboriginal, half Maori and was raised in an Aboriginal community. He’s passionate about his Aboriginal culture, and passionate about teaching both Indigenous and non-indigenous people to have a balanced and judgment free perspective.
On Ben’s decision to come on board with 1300apprentice, he said “I decided to work with 1300apprentice because I believe they display a genuine desire, which is reflected in their work, to mentor and help our youth, and guide them into a better quality of life. Working with apprentices gives me that opportunity to help our young people gain life skills and allows me the opportunity to help them navigate through this crucial part in their lives.”
Welcome aboard Ben!
