Greetings from your Community Board

Message from the Chair

Kia ora koutou,
If you'd like to get to know your neighbours better, now is the time to apply for community board funding for your next neighbourhood gathering. Summer with your neighbours (formerly known as Neighbourhood Week) brings people together and now runs for the entire summer. I'm delighted that we've got the green light for a revamp of the Bishopdale skate park, as this is a great asset for our community. I encourage everyone to give their feedback on an important new plan to reduce the city’s rubbish and manage it in a more sustainable way to cut waste and pollution. if you haven't already, check out the Draft Waste Management and Minimisation Plan 2020 and have your say. Keep being kind and look after one another. Kia kaha.

Community urged to keep an eye out for swing thieves

Residents groups are being asked to keep an eye on their local playgrounds, after a number of expensive basket swings have been swiped from playgrounds across Christchurch. Eight basket swings from across our city’s parks play network have been stolen over the past 18 months, including sets from Richmond Playground and Nicholson Park, and unfortunately, we can’t afford to keep replacing them. If you have any information about the basket swings, please contact our call centre on 03 941 8999.

Later this month recycling free bin stickers will also be available at Council libraries and service centres. These stickers are designed to go on the inside of your yellow bin lid. When you put an item out for recycling, you can double-check against the sticker that the item belongs in the bin.
