Barnard College Construction Update - Monday, July 11, 2016

Dear Claremont resident:

This is the final week of preparing the building site for the rock excavation phase. As part of this mobilization, we will be removing a large, heavy piece of equipment from the site and bringing an equally large, heavy piece of equipment to the site tomorrow around 4:30-5 a.m.  We have asked our contractor to make this operation as efficient as possible.

We sincerely apologize for any disruption caused by this early morning delivery.  The Department of Transportation requires that overweight equipment entering or exiting Manhattan via bridges and tunnels be transported during the overnight hours.

In addition, you will see more truck activity on Claremont this week as we remove concrete, rock and dirt from the site as part of our final preparations. We have reminded our contractors that their trucks are not to idle while waiting to enter the site.

Construction Schedule

We expect to begin the rock excavation phase this Friday or next Monday and will work weekdays from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.  We do not anticipate adding additional days to the schedule, but should we have weather or other delays, we may need to make slight adjustments. Should that occur, we would send out an announcement in advance. We expect to be finished with this phase in mid-to-late August.
