PreK eNews

Once again we were reminded of God’s creativity this week as we learned about many different insects.
We discovered that insects have 3 main body parts, 6 legs, and that spiders are not insects! We also decided that some insects are really cute (ladybugs and fireflies) and others are really cool (grasshoppers and praying mantis’).  We are busy learning, even as our school year is drawing to an end.

Please see the important information below regarding Bike Day!

Upcoming Week

  • Bible Verse: Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother.” (We will practice this verse for two weeks.  Practice at home too!)
  • Bible Story: Queen Esther
  • Reading/Phonemic Awareness: We will introduce the letter “Qq” and the sound “Q” makes (we will learn that “q and u are stuck like glue”).
  • Math:  #19 and #20
  • Unit: Ocean
  • Show and Tell: Bring something that begins with the /q/ sound such as quarter or quilt.

Important Dates

  • May 12th –We will see the 5th grade musical “Cinderella” at 9:15.  If parents wish to see the musical (and it is always OUTSTANDING), tickets are available for the Thursday and Friday evening performances.
  • May 17th – Bike Day for PreK/3 day classes
  • May 18th – Last day of school for 3 day classes (See above information!)

Reminders

  • “Bikes” may be tricycles, big wheels, bicycles with training wheels, etc…but it is very important that children can independently ride the riding toy they bring!  (please check to make sure it is working properly…i.e., air in tires, training wheels and bike seats tightened.)
  • Students MUST have a helmet to ride! (we stress safety…so not having a helmet isn’t an option).
  • Please put sunscreen on your child before coming to school.
  • You will drop off the bike and helmet by the Kidz Theatre (under the awning by arrival/dismissal area) when you bring your child to school…and pick it up in the same place that afternoon.  Look for the sign with the teacher’s name and put bike there.
  • Bring an extra water bottle and put it in the cooler by the sign.
  • Please LABEL bikes, helmets and water bottles with your child’s name.
  • Snacks:  Cereal, goldfish, crackers, or pretzels
