Apply for the Newton Prize

The Newton Fund is delighted to announce that the 2017 Newton Prize will shortly be open for applications.

The Prize was announced by the UK Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation, Jo Johnson, in June 2016 and recognises excellent research and innovation in support of economic development and social welfare in Newton Fund partner countries.
Awarded annually from 2017, applications will be open to existing or previous Newton Fund projects and fellowships and other types of Newton Fund awards. Each year, successful Prize Winners will each be awarded up to £200,000 to advance the work of their existing Newton Fund awards.

The Prize will be awarded to a select group of countries each year. The 2017 Prize will be accepting applications from past and present Newton Fund award holders in India, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam. All of our Newton Fund countries will have the opportunity to apply for the Newton Prize by 2021.

More information on the Prize, eligibility and how to apply will be announced in the next couple of weeks at the Newton Prize page here. Please note that the online application portal will open by the end of April and all applicants must complete and submit their applications by 12pm (BST or GMT+1) Monday 19 June 2017.
