David Rowe takes out political cartooning trifecta

Behind the Lines 2017 is now open here at MoAD, celebrating the best political cartoons depicting the political circus of the last 12 months.

David Rowe was awarded the MoAD Behind the Lines 2017 Cartoonist of the Year, as well as taking out the Australian Cartoonist Association's prizes for best editorial/political cartoonist and overall cartoonist of the year.

'If we want to protect free speech and the free press, we must vigorously protect the editorial cartoonist.' - Ann Telnaes, Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist.

Editorial cartoonist for the Washington Post, Ann Telnaes took part in this year's Behind the Lines launch celebrations. Ann spoke about the important role of political cartooning in a healthy democracy at MoAD's Women in the Media luncheon.
