2019/20 Pre-Season Meeting, Training & Fixtures Announced

The pre-season planning has been published at the club and some key dates to note are:

  • 20th June – Senior Players Meeting (arrive 6.45pm) followed by performance test.  All senior players (incl colts) are required at the club to hear from the coaching team about plans, goals and methods for the season ahead.  Come in kit as after the meeting our Strength & Conditioning partners (www.iscgym.co.uk) will be testing players so their S&C programmes for the pre-season can be put in place.  It is vital all players make this important evening.
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays from 25th June – Pre-season training at the club every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm
  •  15th August – Chelmsford RFC visit HDL for a midweek pre-season friendly
  • 31st August – Pre-season double header and family fun-day at HDL.  One not to be missed, so book it in your diaries now.   Sudbury and London Scottish Lions (on tour) will provide testing opponents for all the senior men players, with staggered kick offs at the club.  Running alongside this will be a family event with fun, games, activities, BBQ, Bar and Music into the evening.  More details to follow soon…..

2020 Vision - Dates for your diary!

Ipswich RFC is the 4th oldest (open) rugby club in the world and we will celebrate our 150th anniversary in the 2020/2021 season.  These milestones need to be marked in style and we intend to do so with a host of special activities and events.

As we build up to the season we will use this section of our newsletter to keep members up to date with plans and to ask for help when needed (which is always!).

Amongst planned events are the following dates to note in your diary:

29-30 August 2020  -  “#150Fest” – Kicking off the special season with a senior and youth rugby festival.  Rugby, Music, Food, Drink, Camping, Fun & Games at a family-themed competitive rugby festival over the bank holiday weekend.  Do not miss it, so book your holidays accordingly!

31 October 2020 – Celebratory Dinner.  With players and dignitaries past and present.

12 June 2021 – End of season ball.  See out the season in style with a marquee ball at the club.

13 June 2021 – Youth and Junior Awards Lunch and Party.  All age groups come together to close the season, celebrate and receive awards from special guests.

There will be much more going on throughout the 2020/21 season.  We intend to have special kit & merchandise, undertake and historical archive project and use the opportunity to engage widely with the local community.  We will need lots of help from volunteers and lots of sponsors to help make the most of this special season.

If you are interested in helping please email club@ipswichrugby.com and/or come along to the next 150 committee meeting at the club on 1st July at 7.30pm.
