Health Providers Alliance NT Official Launch
Health Providers Alliance NT (HPANT) invites health professionals to a networking cocktail event on Thursday, 2 March, 5.30pm at the Oaks Elan, Darwin.

Attendees will network with industry colleagues and hear key speaker Dr Hugh Heggie provide an update on the progress of the health environment within the Northern Territory (NT).

Representatives from Northern Territory PHN (NT PHN) and Northern Territory General Practice Education will be present regarding workforce, practice support and initiatives available for NT practitioners.

Closing the Gap Report 2017
The Australian Government has released the latest Closing the gap: Prime Minister's report 2017. The ninth annual report card details the progress made towards meeting the nation's targets to close the gap in life expectancy, early childhood, health, education and employment between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous Australians.

RANZCP 2017 Congress – Adelaide
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) invites mental health professionals to attend the RANZCP 2017 Annual Congress, to be held in Adelaide from 30 April to 4 May 2017, at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

A stimulating scientific program has been developed around the Congress theme, ‘Speaking our Minds. Telling our Stories’, and will cover a diverse range of areas within mental health.

2017 Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards

Women’s Health Education Day
The Office of Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer will be facilitating a Women’s Health Education Day in collaboration with Family Planning Association.

The aim of this education day is to provide midwives and nurses with the opportunity to update on national cervical screening recommendations, national legislative regulations and train midwives to insert long-acting removal contraceptives (Implanon).

ACRRM Clinical Guideline for Mobile Devices
The January 2017 update of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) Clinical Guidelines for Mobile Devices is available for download.

The guidelines are a support tool for making quick decisions for patients. Included in this update are new and amended guidelines for most disciplines. The guidelines are suitable for download on all mobile devices, as well as computers, laptops and tablets.

Australian Aged Care Quality Agency Compliance Assistance Training
Australian Aged Care Quality Agency (AACQA) will be providing compliance assistance training sessions for Northern Territory Home Care providers and staff in February and March 2017.

The AACQA will be joined by representatives from the Aged Care Complaints Commissioner’s office and the Department of Health.

The Dementia Guide
The Dementia Guide will be an important resource for anyone who has recently been diagnosed with dementia or has been impacted by the disease. This could be any dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, or mixed dementia, and it will address issues for people of all ages living with the disease.

*New* Medical Terminology and Triage Darwin
NT PHN Practice Support invites health practice staff to attend the Medical Terminology and Triage.

This seminar aims to increase the confidence of General Practice administration staff to use appropriate medical terminology as directed in oral and written communication with patients, fellow workers and health professionals. This workshop will also provide a focus on triage at the front desk.

Pop-up PHNs target general practitioners, nurses and allied health professionals, and include a networking dinner at the Knott's Crossing on Friday, 10 March followed by a Continuing Professional Development event on Saturday, 11 March.
