Draft Project Plan Update Comments Under Review

Many comments and letters of support were received on the draft Orange Line Project Plan Update during April and May. Some of the main themes included:

  • Support for the Knox Avenue alignment and 76th Street Station;
  • Support for improved transit throughout the corridor;
  • Continued integration with highway and bridge projects and local land use planning;
  • Continued coordination with property owners, agencies and other stakeholders in future phases of design in order to maximize benefits and minimize any impacts;
  • Maximizing BRT speed and reliability;
  • Planning for a southern extension of the Orange Line to Lakeville;
  • Improving pedestrian access between stations and local destinations; and
  • Engaging local partners in a discussion about potential funding roles.

A revised version of the plan incorporates ideas and recommendations that were received during the comment period. It will be brought to the Metropolitan Council Transportation Committee on June 23, and to the full Metropolitan Council for review and adoption on July 9.

Upon adoption, the plan will inform local and federal funding applications, help determine a path for environmental processes, and update the Metropolitan Council’s regional Transportation Policy Plan.
