Musicians - Leicester-Shire Schools Music Service
WANTED! Musicians to play for a prestigious new Philip Wilby composition The Shoemaker & the King' is a prestigious new choral piece that has been composed by Philip Wilby with lyrics by Ian McMillan. The piece has been commissioned by Leicester-shire Schools Music Service and will be premiered at Leicester Cathedral on Friday 11th July. We need musicians to accompany the singers and are currently recruiting for the following; Keyboard Harp Timpani Flute Clarinet (Bb) You will need to play to a high standard and be able to attend rehearsals on Sunday 29th June at Oakham School (where Philip Wilby will lead the rehearsal) and then on the 11th July all day and early evening at the Cathedral. Scores will be sent out at the end of May to allow for preparation. The performance will be recorded professionally for CD. We're a friendly studio, and all we want to do is produce great work and keep our clients happy. Your position will be varied, supporting existing and forthcoming projects. We need someone who can turn up on time, contribute ideas and help with the workload. In return, we'll offer good pay, experience, and a chance to work on the good stuff. You'll need to be intelligent, interested and aware of the design industry. It doesn't matter if you're only strong in one area, we can help with the rest. We're not hiding the fact that sometimes you'll be working on some boring stuff but you need an eye for detail, work quite quickly and be able to spot mistakes. Programme Co-ordinator, Derby Theatre
Derby Theatre is seeking a Programme Co-ordinator to primarily work alongside the General Manager & Artistic Director to provide administrative support for the theatre programme. Trustees - Cotesbach Educational Trust
Cotesbach Educational Trust is a start up SME and registered charity in Cotesbach south of Lutterworth. In spring 2013 we completed a Heritage Lottery funded renovation of three old buildings (a Georgian Schoolhouse, Milking Parlour, and Victorian Coach House which now houses 400 years’ worth of archives). The building works also provided a new café/activity space. We are now moving into a new phase of activity, programming, fundraising and audience development delivering and hosting a broad range of learning opportunities for all under the broad themes of Heritage, Environment, and the Arts. The Trust is staffed by a part-time project director and education officer and supported by a team of enthusiastic volunteers. UK Young Artists - Call for Submissions
This November UK Young Artists will be presenting the best of the UK’s young creative talent at a three day festival taking place in Leicester. We are now looking for submissions from artists aged between 18 and 30 from across the UK to take part. The art forms we cover are: Applied Art, Literature, Moving Image, Music, Performance and Visual Art, cross art form collaborations are also welcomed! Call for submissions runs from Monday 26 May until Monday 30 June. From the submissions received artists will be selected to take part in the Leicester Festival by a panel comprising of representatives from the four founding universities; De Montfort, Derby, Loughborough and Nottingham Trent plus curators and programmers from our host venues. Submissions can only be accepted via the online application process.

Arduino - Phoenix Interact Labs Workshop 
Sat 14 Jun, 1pm – 5pm. Price: £45 Arduino is a microcontroller development board - a cheap little computer you can programme to readsensors and control things like motors and lights. It’s a fantastic tool for artists, designers and hobbyists. This workshop will get you up and running with this hugely adaptable technology, showing you how to program the device and make simple electronic circuits. The course fee includes a complete Arduino kit - yours to keep after the workshop. Please bring a laptop to program on. A limited number of computers can be provided. IdeasTap Graduate Award: Design
IdeasTap Graduate Awards recognise the high standard of work being produced by UK-based graduates each year. Working with the industry, we've come up with a package of support to help graduates get a foot in the door. Apply for the IdeasTap Graduate Award: Design for the chance to win career coaching, funded exhibition space at Designersblock (during London Design Festival 2014), and up to £1,000 prize money! The award has four categories: Graphics and illustration, Digital design, Product and furniture and Theatre design (set or costume). This brief closes on Thursday 31 July 2014 at 5pm. £2,500 Prize for DepicT!  International Short Film Competition 
The Watershed in Bristol has launched the 2014 DepicT! competition for short films and animations of just 1.5 minutes. Running for the nineteenth year, the competition is free to enter. The overall winner will get a cash prize of £2,500 and all of the shortlisted entrants will be invited to network at the Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival in September. Open to filmmakers across the globe, films can be on any subject and in any genre and previous winners have had their work screened at international film festivals. Roundhouse Online Film Fund
This brilliant bursary will give three emerging filmmakers everything they need to transform their online film idea into reality: a £400 production budget, the use of equipment and facilities, and mentoring from the Roundhouse. That’s right – you’ll get four months, £400 and access to equipment to create your own short film showcased on the Roundhouse’s YouTube channel – as well as on IdeasTap, of course. And that film can be anything you like, from narrative to animation, documentary to video art, even a multi-camera shoot in the Roundhouse Studios. This brief closes on Monday 2 June 2014 at 5pm and is open to IdeasTap members aged 18 to 25. Handmade in Leicestershire Summer Craft Fair
Saturday 19 July, 11 – 5. HandMade in Leicestershire is a prestigious contemporary art, craft and design fair that this year returns to the beautiful setting of Belgrave Hall and Gardens.  A wide range of arts and crafts will be on sale in the newly refurbished rooms of the Hall and Gardens with demonstrations and workshops on offer throughout the afternoon. Adults £2.50 / some workshops may charge. This event is supported by Creative Leicestershire.

Two Queens - Call for Artwork
Two Queens is holding an 'after-party' for this year's DMU degree show opening on the 13th June. This is a call for artwork for inclusion in this one night exhibition/event and is open to current and graduating students (in any subject) from DMU and Loughborough Universities, including Foundation, BA and MA students. In particular we are seeking Video works (less than 15 minutes duration) to be played in a 'showreel' format and performance-based work. These restrictions are open-ended and all submitted work will be considered. Artwork can be newly produced or pre-existing, the event will feature DJ'ing throughout so video works will need to be silent/be playable without sound. Closing date for entries is Thursday 29th May, successful applicants will be contacted by email by Sunday 1st june at latest. For any additional information please contact info@2queens.com. Commission Opportunity- Loughborough
The Refectory Table are managing a commission for the Love Loughborough Partnership. This commission will support the perception of Loughborough as a place with it’s own distinctiveness that encourages independent creative and artisan businesses. The site is 55 meters long by 2.25 meters high. The work will be installed as a linear run of 10 panels. The artist will produce a design that will be passed onto separate contractors who will transfer the design digitally onto, and install the panels at a key site in the town centre. We are particularly interested in hearing from practitioners such as printmakers, illustrators, designers or makers from Leicestershire or Rutland with a strong track record. Fee 3k. Sock Gallery - Open Exhibition Submissions 2014
Sock Gallery's Open Exhibition was established in 2012 to provide a platform for local and national, professional and amateur, Artists to exhibit their work. The Open invites you to submit two-dimensional work ranging from paintings, photographs, drawings, original prints and mixed media work. Submission dates: Thursday 31st July 9am-5pm, Friday 1st August 9am-7pm & Saturday 2nd August 9am-5pm. Wysing Arts Centre Residencies
Four artists will be selected to be in-residence at Wysing Arts Centre for six weeks. Artists propose how they would spend six weeks in-residence at Wysing taking the theme of "The Future" as a starting point for research. During the residencies, we will organise a series of talks and events to expand thinking around the theme and artists are also invited to propose papers, talks, or performances that might be included in this events programme, if appropriate. The artists’ fee and production budget for a residency is a total of £4,000. Find out more here. Deadline: 16 June.

Jerwood Drawing Prize
"An exhibition that explores and celebrates the diversity, excellence and range of current drawing practice in the UK." Open to all UK based artistsworking with drawing. From an anticipated submission of over 3,000 entries, the selectors will bring together up to 70 works for an exhibition in the Jerwood Visual Arts programme, at Jerwood Space, London from 17 September – 26 October 2014. The exhibition will then tour to venues across the UK, including Cheltenham, Leeds and Bournemouth. First Prize is £8,000, Second Prize is £5,000 and two Student Awards are £2,000 each. Leicestershire and Rutland Young Artists Open Exhibition
A partnership project between Creative Hinckley and Charnwood Arts. Free entry to any young person aged 8-19 years living or studying in Leicestershire and Rutland.
Your chance to exhibit in this prestigious gallery space in Hinckley. All works in different age categories will judged by a panel of experts and prizes awarded including an opportunity for someone in the 16-19 years category to experience mentoring for a week within a major regional design company. Art works will be accepted between Monday 9 and Friday 13 June 2014 from 9.30am to 4pm at the Atkins Building, Lower Bond Street Hinckley LE10 1QU. The Temp Exhibition - Call for Artwork
The Temp Exhibition is a one night only exhibition to be hosted at The Font Pub in Leicester during the Autumn term. Students art will be curated around the venue, breaking down the boundaries of an art gallery in a unexpected and alternative pub setting. Students must be based in Leicester and can be from any art discipline or any University. We want to see students do something that could be site specific to The Font Pub or curated to be enjoyed by visitors. Visitors will be voting for the art work they like curated the best within the pub setting. Ten2Gallery Open Summer Exhibition 2014 - Remembrance
The Ten2Gallery is again offering the exciting opportunity to artists in the area to submit up to 3 pieces of their work for consideration to be included in the open “Summer Exhibition” to be held at the Ten2Gallery during August and September 2014. This year the theme of our exhibition is REMEMBRANCE. An entrance fee of £4.00 per item, or £10.00 for three will be charged (non- refundable). Maximum size of work accepted is 1m square. De Montfort University Art and Design Degree Show
The Art and Design Degree Show 2014 is an annual exhibition showcasing the talent and innovative work of our final year art, architecture, design and fashion students. The event will give you the opportunity to view the exciting creations by the next generations of artists and designers across our range of courses, and attracts over 4000 visitors. Mural Painting Workshop - Creative Hinckley

This course will introduce the basic skills of linocut from designing your image, cutting your block and printing. Fractured Lines - Call out for great Writers

This is the new writing project and is a ‘from script to stage in seven days’ project.   • How to Hone Your Poetry Writing 2 hour course on 11 June, Wednesday 1pm – 3pm. A one-session workshop aimed at helping you to assess which of your (previously written) poems work best. This will be done by reading, discussion and an appreciation of new, different and exciting ways to write, and things to write about. Our target is to present two or three poems, in their Best Draft, for publication, both in reading and for consideration in a magazine. Price: £20.
  • The Business of Writing One day course 14 June 2014, Saturday 10.30am – 4pm. So you’ve written your novel/screenplay/script (delete as applicable). You’ve got some interest from agents/publishers/producers (ditto). Now what?
    This course isn’t going to tell you how to edit, redraft or improve your work (well, maybe a bit). What it will do is address some of the things you’ll definitely need but might not have thought about. In short, the hard graft, nose-to-the-grindstone business side of a writing career. Price: £60.

Step Change is a national programme for professionals seeking to progress/develop their careers in the performing arts. Phd in Music - University of Nottingham
The Department of Music at the University of Nottingham is pleased to announce the availability of funded support for a postgraduate student of composition, registered for a PhD in Music.  The funding support is through the generosity of a Radcliffe Trust Composition Bursary and consists of three annual payments of £6,000. The current tuition fee for postgraduate study at the University (HEU students) is £3,980 per year (subject to review). The Bursary is open to UK applicants who must be starting full time PhD studies in September 2014. Applicants will normally have an MA in Composition with at least a Merit. Mobilisation - Community Arts Event
As part of the Lord-Lieutenant of Rutland’s commemoration of the centenary of World War I, and by kind permission of 49 (East) Brigade Commander and the Head of Establishment for Kendrew Barracks, Arts for Rutland are hosting a large scale community arts event at Kendrew on Sunday 15th June 2014. The event is intended to embrace both the army and the wider Rutland community in a range of cultural activities linked by the theme of “Mobilisation”.   • Collaboration and Partnership Working 11 Jun 2014 - 11:00am, Virtual Session. This online web conference facilitated by our Group Support Team Manager David Sharpe will take you through some helpful case studies to help you get started. As this session is an online web conference all you need is a computer with an internet connection to take part. 
  • Roles and Responsibilities of Trustees 11 Jun 2014 6pm, Voluntary Action LeicesterShire, LE1 5SN. This session uses the National Occupational Standards for Trustees to give you a clear idea of what your role should entail.
  • Financial Management 12 Jun 2014 - 10:00am, Marlene Reid Centre, Coalville, LE67 3PH. The course will give you confidence in completing cashbooks, bank reconciliations and managing petty cash using friendly and interactive activities.

£2k UK Growth Vouchers & Leicester 50% Grants for B2B Businesses

Free support for Blaby District enterprises
Growing businesses in Blaby District have the chance to benefit from a free package of business support worth up to £500 to help kick start their expansion and improvement plans. The Growth 4 Enterprise scheme is open to applications from independent small firms located in Blaby District who have plans to develop and grow and currently employ less than 50 staff.  The package of support includes a business assessment, followed by one to one professional advice and access to a choice of training masterclasses. Blaby District Council is working in partnership with Nottingham Business Venture to run this pilot business support scheme. Leicestershire County Council SHIRE Community Solutions Grant Fund
The Council is committed to supporting voluntary and community sector organisations to work alongside us to design and develop innovative solutions, to enable the delivery of key services for our communities and has committed £260,000 (in 2014-15) for the SHIRE Community Solutions Grant Fund. The key focus of the fund will be to prioritise projects which address vulnerability, disadvantage and access to essential services. The maximum amount which can be applied for is £10,000 and grants will only be available to projects which benefit residents of Leicestershire County. The Mighty Creatives: Embridge Arts Award Grant Programme 2014 – 2015
As the East Midlands Bridge organisation, The Mighty Creatives has been working to help more children and young people access more great art and culture more of the time. We have been working with Trinity College London to develop Arts Award within our region. Arts Award offers young people an inspiring arts and culture journey. This year we have developed an Arts Award Grants Programme to extend the reach of Arts Award and to further develop where and how Arts Award is being delivered to young people in the region. You can apply for up to £5,000 to help you to develop or start your Arts Award offer. VAL offers free, confidential and impartial advice to voluntary and community groups completing funding applications. We are able to review draft funding applications, offer advice on structuring your funding bid and advise and facilitate a consortium approach. Wellcome Trust – Arts Awards
The Wellcome Trust is inviting organisations and individuals to apply for funding through its Arts Awards. The Arts Awards support projects that engage the public with biomedical science through the arts including: Dance, Drama, Performance arts, Visual arts, Music, Film, Craft, Photography, Creative writing and Digital media. Applications are invited for projects of up to £30,000 through their small grants programme, and for projects above £30,000 through their large grant programme. The aim of the awards is to support arts projects that reach new audiences which may not traditionally be interested in science and provide new ways of thinking about the social, cultural and ethical issues around contemporary science. The scheme is open to a wide range of people including, among others, artists, scientists, curators, filmmakers, writers, producers, directors, academics, science communicators, teachers, arts workers and education officers. The next application deadline for small projects is the 27th June 2014, the deadline for large projects has now passed. Government Growth Vouchers programme opens
The Government has launched a £30m ‘Growth Vouchers’ programme to help small British businesses grow. The programme will offer advice and guidance to businesses taking part and see subsidies of up to £2,000 offered to many to spend with advisers. It’s expected to help 20,000 of the smallest British businesses over the 15 month life of the initiative. The Enterprise Nation Marketplace is the place to find Growth Voucher advisers. Idlewild Trust
The Idlewild Trust has announced that the next closing date for applications to its grant making programme is the 24th September 2014. The Idlewild Trust is a grant making trust that supports registered charities concerned with the encouragement of the performing and fine arts and crafts, the advancement of education within the arts and the preservation for the benefit of the public of lands, buildings and other objects of beauty or historic interest in the United Kingdom. Read more at: http://www.idlewildtrust.org.uk/

Music Grants for Older People
The registered charity, Concertina which makes grants to charitable bodies which provide musical entertainment and related activities for the elderly has announced that the next deadline for applications is the 31st October 2014. The charity is particular keen to support smaller organisations which might otherwise find it difficult to gain funding. Since its inception in 2004, Concertina has made grants to a wide range of charitable organisations nationwide in England and Wales. These include funds to many care homes for the elderly to provide musical entertainment for their residents. Find out more here.

New £30 Million Package to Help Improve the Prospects of Young People
The Government has announced that organisations, including those from the voluntary sector can bid for funding through a new £30 million scheme to help improve the prospects of up to 20,000 vulnerable young people. The funding will help disadvantaged young people improve their prospects and prevent them from falling into a situation where they are not in education, employment or training (NEET). This investment is made up of 2 new programmes specifically targeting 14 to 24-year-olds. Find out more here.

Community Grants 2014 Fund Open for Applications
The £3.25 million Community Assets and Services Capital Fund is now open for applications. Community-led organisations can apply for grants of £100,000 to £500,000 for the purchase and refurbishment of land and buildings. The closing date for applications is the 26th June 2014. Read more here.

BIG Announces New £150 Million "Power to Change" Initiative
The Big Lottery Fund has announced that it will launch a new £150 million fund to support the development of sustainable community-led enterprises. The fund aims to respond to the many economic challenges facing local communities. Challenges that have led to empty shop premises and the closures of pubs, libraries, community centres and sports facilities. The fund wants to support communities to come together using creative approaches that involve local people and resources to improve their local neighbourhoods, villages and town centres. The Arts Marketing Association
Founded in 1993, the AMA is a not-for-profit organisation with around 1,800 members, providing a community of knowledge for arts professionals passionate about bringing arts and audiences together. We support the professional development of AMA members through events, courses, training and resources.
