PH 1st Grade eNews

Please do not forget to send a labeled water bottle and coat/sweater every day. We will go outside as weather permits and sometimes it is a little chilly.

Academics

  • Bible - The Temple, Glorifying God, Thanksgiving; story of David
  • Verse - Psalm 106:1, “Praise the Lord.  Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.”
  • Spelling - Continue with Magic E while spelling words with -ice and -ace vs. -ike and -ake
  • (for example:  rice, race, bike, bake)
  • Reading & Phonics - Read “How the Leopard Got His Spots”; practice reading words magic E; work on main idea
  • Grammar & Writing - Complete sentences; adjectives
  • Math - Subtraction facts; clocks-time to half-hour; thermometers
  • Science/Social Studies - Pilgrims & Thanksgiving

Important Dates

  • November 14: Christmas in November; Wear Christmas attire to kick off our food drive
  • November 14-18: Canned food drive; bring canned goods or non-perishable food to donate to Feed The 479
  • November 18: Turkey Trot from 2:15-2:45 at the field west of the church; parents are welcome to join and/or participate
  • November 21-25: Thanksgiving Break (No School)
  • December 1: Field trip to Springdale campus for Christmas Sing Along
  • December 9: PJ day (with tennis shoes)
  • December 16: Christmas Party at 12:15; Dismissal at 1:00; No Extended Car
