Food, glorious food!

Hello Cracking Ideas friends and welcome to this delectable, lip smacking edition of the Cracking Ideas newsletter!  With people celebrating Thanksgiving today in the US and Canada, we decided to dedicate this issue to all things edible...

‘Tis the season to eat curry...?

‘Tis the season to eat curry...?

In the run up to the festive season it’s easy to get pre-occupied with thoughts of yummy scrummy food, but we still have to remember that suffering connected with poverty is still widespread in parts of the world.

In 1998 an organisation called the Curry Tree Charitable Fund was set up to raise funds for charities concentrating on hunger, malnourishment and poverty. The Curry Tree’s top event is National Curry Week which runs the 21 to 27 November when money is raised and the cuisine celebrated at events all over the UK.  What a cracking idea!

A challenge!

A challenge!

Here at Cracking Ideas today we’ve enjoyed a selection of tasty curries at lunch which set us thinking about how our current Eureka Challenge   (tasking you to create a delicious design for a Cracking Ideas cafe) could be tackled with a spicy theme. We thought of a mouth watering cafe design based on our lunch time curry, with a spice coloured bowl shaped building, circular windows like popadoms and with a roof textured like rice!

If you were to have a go at the Eureka Challenge what would your scrumptious cafe look like? What shape would the feasting furniture be, what patterns would you put on the walls and would there be any extra special, unique features? Whatever innovative design you think of, make sure it’s exciting and original and would encourage visitors to go in and eat.

More foodie facts...

Still on a food theme – did you know that today is Thanksgiving in America and Canada? For our Cracking Ideas cousins over the Atlantic today is a day of family gatherings and holiday meals. This happens in recognition of the Pilgrim Father’s first successful harvest and the sharing of this accomplishment with the colony’s Native American allies back in 1621. Although then Americans are not the first to celebrate with food in this way - harvest festivals and thanksgiving celebrations have been held by the ancient Greeks, the Romans, the Hebrews, the Chinese, and even the Egyptians way, way back in ancient times.

Bye for now!

Bye for now!

However you decide to celebrate Thursday 25th November - whether it be with turkey and pumpkin pie, curry or a good old sarnie and a cuppa for tea tonight make sure you enjoy it. You never know you might just find that food is the inspiration for your next lip smacking Cracking Idea.

Until next time, cracking regards,

Nick
