Welcome from the Director

Inline

It is with great pleasure that I bring you this inaugural issue of our monthly newsletter! We have been thinking about this tool as a way to keep in contact with the greater GVSU community, but especially to reach out to the faculty and staff in the College of Community & Public Service. We are introducing this electronic newsletter to keep you informed of news, events, activities, and resources coming from our advising center that may be of interest to you or students you are in contact with. Through this publication we hope to keep you connected with things that we are doing to support GVSU students as well as faculty & staff throughout the year. We will also spotlight university resources or programs that we think you might find helpful. If you have any questions, suggestions, or if you would like to contribute an item please contact me. Happy reading!

Battle of the Valleys

Inline

Battle of the Valleys has become a long-standing tradition at Grand Valley State University. It works to create a connection between the students, alumni, local businesses, and the surrounding community through a friendly competition between our school and our rival, Saginaw Valley State University. This year’s battle takes place November 8-13th and will benefit the Student Advancement Foundation of the Grand Rapids Public school system.

As in previous years, the CCPS Undergraduate Advising Center challenges members of our college (faculty, staff, and students) to donate funds to help GVSU win this battle. Donations can be brought to 218C DeVos Center. Donations collected in our Center will be matched (up to $150) which in essence doubles your donation. We have raised nearly $800 with this competition over the past 3 years. MORE INFORMATION
