A month packed with happy events!

Hola dear friend! It’s Nathalie here.
Spring is almost here, and the days are slowly getting brighter and our appetite for tango bigger. To keep you dancing all month, we’ve selected a new orchestra, translated new songs, launched new gift vouchers and packages and of course, there’s our monthly Milonguita at the Light on the 31st. We even have a few performances lined up this month to keep us on our toes. And finally, we’d like to send our warmest thoughts to you ladies – whether you are a mum (with Mother’s Day approaching fast) or not (Women’s Day was this week). Ladies, we love you!

» Mothers day gift vouchers

Gift voucher

Surprise your mum with something different she'll love.
Remember, tango truly transcends age and even physical condition: after all, you're not buying a Hip-Hop voucher. Tango is soft and beautiful, and it's danced to music tunes that will transport her (to Argentina, that is).
Vouchers can be redeemed against private or group classes.

» NEW ORCHESTRA! Osvaldo Pugliese

Osvaldo Pedro Pugliese

We've picked a fabulous new orchestra for our classes this month: Pugliese, composer (1905–'95).

Osvaldo Pedro Pugliese was an tango musician born in Buenos Aires, who after training at the Conservatoire of music, started playing professionally at the age of 15 at the "Café de La Chancha" (so called in allusion to the owner’s lack of hygiene).
After these humble beginnings, Pugliese continues to play in various orchestras and in 1939, forms his "Orquesta Típica Pugliese", and debuts at the cafe El Nacional. His orchestra will hold together until the end of his life and is considered one of the best tango orchestras in the world. 'Recuerdo' (1924) and 'La Yumba' (1946) are Pugliese's most popular tangos.

» NEW! Tango lyrics from Tanturi

Castillo

A new translation from Ricardo Tanturi, composer (1905–'73).

We've translated the song "Recuerdos (memories). This beautiful vals is the first hit recorded by Alberto Castillo and Tanturi's legendary orchestra in 1941. It is, of course, a love song: women (and love) have always been a theme central to tango songs. However, the way they are depicted drastically evolved over time – from ruthless...
