Hi there,

My older sister – some 23cm shorter than me – always liked to tell me that good things came in small packages. Apparently, the Australian Taxation Office has come to a similar conclusion – at least on the IT outsourcing front.

The new approach is in line with the Government’s IT procurement policy and will see the ATO splitting its four big IT contracts into smaller, tighter bundles, and offers potential for smaller local providers to get a foot in the door.

It been a while coming after a blowout in outsourcing costs and high profile outages that left the agency with a lot of ground to recover confidence.

Having largely achieved that during this tax season, will the change bring service improvements, or procurement hell?

In other news this week:

  • A/NZ policy leaders are burying their heads over the future of work
  • Chemist Warehouse deploys AI tool to direct merchandising
  • Marriott breach adds more imperative to A/NZ notification settings
  • Yes Virginia, AI really is the CX Santa. AI proving its worth

And winery, accommodation and venue operation Marnong Estate explains how they gained organisational oversight, eliminated double handling of data and reduced complexity thanks to MYOB Advanced.

Happy reading,
