PH PreK4 eNews

“Run, run, as fast as you can! You can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!” We have had such fun this week reading and then comparing/contrasting different versions of this classic.
What an exciting and wonderful time of year! We love watching the wonderment and joy that the children have as we learn about the true meaning of Christmas.  It is fun to hear the children discuss decorating trees, baking cookies, and wrapping presents.  Our favorite part, though, is that we are learning about the greatest gift ever given, our Savior!

Please see the information below regarding our book exchange during class Christmas parties.

Next Week

  • Bible Verse:“Today, a Savior was born for you in the City of David” Luke 2:11 (We will add Luke 2:12 next week, so practice at home as well.)
  • Bible: The Christmas Story
  • Reading/Phonemic Awareness: we will introduce the letter “Kk” and the sound /k/
  • Math:  #7, number sense, more/less
  • Unit: Christmas
  • Show and tell: Bring something that begins with the letter and sound of K.

Important Dates

  • December 9: Pajama day at school. Girls must wear leggings underneath their nightgowns. No slippers; tennis shoes must be worn.
  • December 16: Classroom Christmas Parties will be held from 12:15-1:00.  School will be dismissed immediately after the Christmas Party.  Homeroom moms are coordinating the class parties (we are so thankful for the help with the parties!) and will contact parents about plans and needed supplies.
  • We will have a book exchange during our Christmas party. Please send in a wrapped book on or before December 13.
  • December 19-January 2: Christmas Break
  • January 3: 1st day of second semester

Reminders

  • We go outside on most cold days. Please send a heavy coat that is labeled. If you are sending gloves and hats, please label those as well. We will have your child leave their gloves and hats in their backpack for the week and send them home on Friday.
  • If your child brings his/her lunch, DHS mandates the lunch box must contain:  1 protein, 1 grain, 1 fruit and 1 vegetable OR 2 fruits OR 2 vegetables.  Thank you for your help with this!
