Happy New Year from your Community BoardMessage from the ChairWelcome to the first edition of our monthly Community Board newsletter for 2020. On behalf of the Halswell-Hornby Riccarton Community Board, I hope you have all had safe and enjoyable holidays and are looking forward to what the year will bring. My Board and I will be getting out and about in the community and setting out some key priorities that we want to achieve over the next 12 months. We are delighted to be here and to serve you all. Immerse yourself in Christchurch's best summer reads From a best-selling debut novel packed with family angst to a wayward tale of tangled emotions to an epic crime novel, Christchurch City Libraries staff have found the ideal books for both home and away holidays. Check out your local library for great reads for all ages. Have your say on permanent alcohol ban for rugby league fieldsWe're proposing a new permanent alcohol ban for rugby league playing fields and adjoining areas, to minimise the potential for alcohol-related offensive behaviour, to protect public safety and to create a friendlier environment during games. Consultation closes 27 January.
Riccarton Road updateOur contractor, Fulton Hogan, is focusing on replacing the sewer pipes under the busy intersections of Riccarton Road and Matipo Street and Riccarton Road and Straven Road/Clarence Street to start the new year. Once that's completed, the contractors will continue with reconstructing the road, installing footpaths, bus lanes, a central median, landscaping and street furniture. 'Water like you oughta’ this summerMost summers, the demand for water in Christchurch can double or even triple. That's why we're asking you to think carefully about how and when you use water, particularly outside - or in other words, 'water like you oughta'. You received this email because you are subscribed to receive updates from Christchurch City Council. |
